Dr. Rui J.P. de Figueiredo is Research Professor of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science and Mathematics at the University of California, Irvine (UCI). Professor de Figueiredo's numerous honors include: the Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers (IEEE) Life Fellow, the IEEE Circuits and Systems Society (CASS) Golden Jubilee Medal, the IEEE Tri-Millennium Medal, the Gh. Asachi Medal from the Technical University of Iasi, Romania, the CASS Technical Achievement Award, the Neural Networks Transactions Best Paper Award, the CASS Transactions Guillemin-Cauer Best Paper Award, the CASS Van Valkenburg Society Award, and election to President of CASS in 1998.
