Prof. Mrinal Mandal received his PhD in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the University of Ottawa in 1998, and since then he has been a faculty member in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of Alberta, Edmonton, Canada. Dr. Mandal is the Director of the Multimedia Computing and Communications Laboratory, and his research interests include Image and Video Processing, Medical Image Analysis, and Radar Signal Processing. He has published more than 150 refereed journal and conference papers, and he also holds a USA patent. He is the author of two books: Multimedia Signals and Systems (Kluwer Academic, Boston, 2002) and Continuous and Discrete Time Signals and Systems, (Cambridge University Press, UK, 2007). He is past recipient of Canadian Commonwealth Fellowship and Humboldt Research Fellowship (Germany).
