Biography of the Conference Chair
Dr. Ahmed Rafea obtained his PhD from University Paul Sabatier, in Toulouse, France, and is currently a computer science professor at the American University in Cairo. Dr. Rafea has served both as the Chair of the Computer Science Department, and also as Vice Dean of the Faculty of Computers and Information at Cairo University. He also served as a visiting professor at San Diego State University, and at the National University in the United States. Dr. Rafea has been the principal investigator and manger of several projects, where he collaborated with European and American Universities to develop intelligent systems and machine translation. He is currently a member of the Center of Excellence on Data Mining and Computer Modeling, sponsored by the Ministry of Communication and Information Technology. Dr. Rafea has authored over 150 conference proceedings, book chapters, and scientific papers in both international and national journals. Additionally, Dr. Rafea has served as a program committee member, reviewer, and chairman for many conferences. His research interests include natural language processing, machine translation, knowledge engineering, knowledge discovery, and data, text and web mining.
