Biography of the Publications Chair
Dr. Shi received the B.Sc. and M.Sc. degrees in mechanical engineering and automatic control from Northwestern Polytechnical University, Xi'an, China, in 1994 and 1998, respectively, and the Ph.D. degree in electrical and computer engineering from the University of Alberta, Edmonton, AB, Canada, in 2005. From 1998 to 2000, he was with the Department of Automation, Tsinghua University, Beijing, China. From 2005 to 2009, he was an Assistant Professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering, University of Saskatchewan, SK, Canada. Since August 2009, he has been an Associate Professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering, University of Victoria, BC, Canada. His current research interests include networked control systems, multirate systems, system identification, bio-mechatronics, and cooperative autonomous agents.
Dr. Shi received the University of Saskatchewan Student Union Teaching Excellence Award in 2007. He is Senior Member of IEEE and a registered Professional Engineer in British Columbia, Canada.
