Qualifications of the Instructor(s)
is a Full Professor in the Department of Informatics at the University of Ploiesti, Romania, where she has been teaching courses in Artificial Intelligence since 1995. She received her PhD in Computer Science from the University of Ploiesti in 1996, and her MSc in Computer Science from Polytechnic University of Bucharest in 1990. Her current research interests include multi-agent systems, machine learning, and expert systems. Dr. Oprea has published more than 50 scientific papers, and has authored five books, all in the area of Artificial Intelligence. She is a member of the Romanian Society for Informatics and Control, the Slovenian Artificial Intelligence Society, and the IASTED Technical Committee on Artificial Intelligence and Expert Systems. Also, she is actively involved as a project manager in several research projects, and she has been a research visitor at universities and Artificial Intelligence Research Institutes in the UK, Spain, Austria, Greece, and Sweden. Dr. Oprea is the manager of the AgentLink III activity held at University of Ploiesti, that involves agent-based related activities (teaching and research). Mihaela Oprea
Recently, she has given two international tutorials in the area of Multi-agents systems.

- 2004 at the 18th IFIP World Computer Congress, Toulouse, France: Applications of Multi-Agent Systems.
Dr. Oprea has served as a member of the programme committee for several international conferences in the areas of artificial intelligence, and intelligent agents. She is a member of the Programme Committee of AIA 2006. Directly connected with the subject of the proposed tutorial, Dr. Oprea is a member of the Technical Forum Group of FP6 AgentLink III with the theme of Agent-Oriented Software Engineering.
