SPECIAL SESSION
Signals and Systems in Human Motion
Abstract
The biomechanics of motion is a field of increasing importance and interest to practitioners and researchers from various areas of expertise. In order to gain a broader understanding of human motion, and in order to improve accessibility to information about the biomechanics of motion, two key areas of study are essential: kinetics and measurement methods, and instrumentation. Kinetics provides a technical approach to the mathematical modelling and simulation of human movements. Measurement methods and instrumentation, through equipment development and hardware and software support, provide the ability to evaluate and quantify human movement. When these two specializations are united in the study of biomechanics of motion, they provide significant practical contributions to sports and rehabilitation. This session will cover the following topics:
Human Movement and Gesture
- Locomotion
- Hand
- Arm
- Head
- Eyes
- Lips
Measurement and Instrumentation
- Accelerometric Sensors for Human Identification
- Pressure and Force Measurements
- Electromiographic Measurements
- Computer Vision Motion Data Capture
