Frank Baaijens is a full professor in Soft Tissue Biomechanics & Engineering. He received his Ph.D. degree in 1987 from Eindhoven University of Technology with Prof. J.D. Janssen as his supervisor. In 1985, he joined Philips Research Laboratories in Eindhoven to work on Computational Mechanics. Since 1990, he has been a part-time professor in the Polymer Group of the division of Computational and Experimental Mechanics of the Eindhoven University of Technology, in the area of Computational Rheology. In July 1995, he was appointed full professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering. In October 2002, he was appointed full professor in the Department of BioMedical Engineering (division of Biomechanics and Tissue Engineering), and holds a part-time position in the Department of Mechanical Engineering (Computational Rheology, division of Computational and Experimental Mechanics). His present interests include soft tissue biomechanics, tissue engineering, cardiovascular biomechanics and computational rheology.
