Biography of the Plenary Speaker
J. A. Tenreiro Machado is coordinator professor at the Institute of Engineering of Porto, Dept. of Electrical Engineering. After obtaining his diploma of ‘Licenciatura' (1980), in electrical and computer engineering at the University of Porto, he pursued studies in robot modeling and control, obtaining the PhD (1989) and the 'Agregação' (1995) at the University of Porto. He is associated editor of international journals, editor of several books, guest editor of special issues in journals, and co-chairman and organizer of several international conferences. His research areas of interest include fractional calculus, robotics, nonlinear dynamics, evolutionary computing, intelligent transportations systems, and computational cybernetics.
