Daqiang Cang graduated with a B.Sc. degree in Energy Engineering from Northeast University in 1977, and received his Ph.D. degree in Metallurgical Engineering in 1989 from University of Science and Technology Beijing. Dr. Cang is currently a professor and the director of Research Center of Environment and Energy in Department of Ecology at University of Science and Technology Beijing. Dr. Cang is also the President of Chinese Industrial Furnace Association (CIFA) and a member of the Chinese National Nature Science Foundation Committee, and formerly worked in United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), from April 1999 to May 2000, as a consultant for industrial energy and environment. Dr. Cang is one of the leading researchers and experts in China in the fields of energy and the environment, in particular for the iron and steel industry, an industry producing more than 500 million tonnes of steel per year and demanding 15% of the nation's total annual energy consumption. Dr. Cang's contributions to research can be measured by publication of 2 books, namely Combustion Technology and Pulverized Coal Injection with Oxygen Enhancement, and about 380 papers in referenced journals and conferences, and award of 19 patents and 5 prestigious national awards from China. In addition, Dr. Cang is serving on the editorial boards for a number of domestic and international journals such as Combustion Science and Technology, Industrial Heating, Iron and Steel Research, and Iron and Steel, etc. Dr. Cang has research collaborations with many countries and international organizations including Sweden, Japan, Korea, EU and UNEP, and has delivered invited/plenary talks at a variety of international conferences.
